The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the first two keynotes to take the stage at CES Asia 2019. Huawei‘s Richard Yu and Hyundai‘s Kyounglim Yun are confirmed as the first two technology leaders to address the audience at the consumer technology event to be held in Shanghai, China on June 11-13

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group and Director of Huawei Technologies, and Kyounglim Yun, Executive Vice-President and Head of Hyundai’s Open Innovation Strategy Division are scheduled to deliver keynote addresses at the upcoming CES Asia 2019 next month. The event is going to be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) in Shanghai, China.

First Keynotes at CES Asia 2019: Huawei and Hyundai

Huawei‘s Richard Yu is going to unveil Huawei’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and strategy for the future on Tuesday, June 11 at 9:30 AM. An early morning start for what promises to be an exciting morning in anticipation of the explosion of technology we are all expecting by 2020 and beyond.

Huawei’s AI strategy

In October last year, Huawei released its AI strategy and all-scenarios AI portfolio at the third annual Huawei Connect, a global event for the ICT industry. Huawei’s AI portfolio includes its new Ascend series of AI chips: The world’s first AI IP and chip series designed for a full range of scenarios.

Huawei’s goal is to provide pervasive intelligence to help drive industry development to build a fully connected intelligent world. According to Huawei, by 2025, there are going to be 40 billion personal smart devices. The company predicts that 90 percent of device users will have a smart digital assistant.

Hyundai Motor Company’s vision for the future of mobility

Hyundai‘s Kyounglim Yun is going to speak about Hyundai Motor Company‘s vision for the future of mobility. He serves as Executive Vice-President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s Open Innovation Strategy Division.

He also oversees the Hyundai Motor Company’s global strategy for scouting and discovering for new businesses, including Hyundai’s work with innovative startups and its vision for Clean Mobility, Connected Mobility, and Freedom in Mobility. Kyounglim Yun’s keynote is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11 at 1:30 PM

Electric vehicles with endless possibilities

Hyundai’s future mobility roadmap highlights the company’s strategy to materialize freedom in mobility for customers. The company’s electric vehicles (EVs) strategy and its strategy to gain global leadership in connected mobility aim to provide a curated future lifestyle where all aspects of life are connected to mobility for a true Car-to-Life experience.

Hyundai’s strategy for EVs, connected cars, and open innovation has been designed to fulfill the company’s future mobility vision. The vehicles can be customized according to the customer’s needs. The vehicles can adapt to any environment.

Hyundai is going to leverage data generated from smart vehicles to launch an open ecosystem that enables a host of ICT subsystems to create a structural flow of public data transmission between vehicles and the environment in which the vehicles operate. This is expected to facilitate the adoption of connected cars.

Hyundai is also expanding in AI technology through the establishment of dedicated research centers and strategic partnership with global companies. Hyundai Motor Group’s AI Research Lab (AIR Lab) located in Korea and an AI Research Center (AIR Center) in the U.S. are both dedicated organizations for AI research and development.

The AI Research Lab and Center focus on AI-related research in computer vision and machine learning; both essential elements for further development in autonomous vehicles and robotics technology.

Hyundai believes that personalized vehicles are not a luxury but a necessity. Therefore, the company aims to personalize the vehicle space for every customer. Through this concept, customers have the freedom to select initial software as well as hardware of their vehicles and equip upgrades according to their specific needs.

By collecting zettabytes of data (ZB is a unit of measurement for supercomputers), Hyundai is able to enhance the driving experience and ensure the safety of customers by providing real-time alerts of road conditions and also weather updates. The company’s connected car technology will allow external connectivity for customers in the future.

Hyundai expects to have 10 million active connectivity users and apply connected car technology to all vehicle segments in the global market by 2022.

Huawei and Hyundai’s keynotes, as well as the others yet to be announced in the coming weeks, are all going to take place at the Kerry Hotel in Shanghai, Ballrooms two and three.

CES Asia this year is going to focus on the latest innovation in Artificial Intelligence, 5G networks, vehicle technology, and startups from around the world. The show will feature more than 550 exhibiting companies, including more than 125 startups, representing the full technology ecosystem.

“Huawei and Hyundai are global powerhouse brands that continue to redefine the industry and lead the charge with original Asian innovations that connect, engage, and entertain consumers around the world,” said Karen Chupka.
