A 35-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday night after confronting a driver who left the scene of a crash, according to Mobile police.
The victim was identified as Patrick Edwards.
According to Mobile police, at approximately 10:02 p.m., police responded to Gulf Field Drive East and Central Drive in reference to the report of one shot.
Edwards victim and his wife were involved in a traffic accident and the suspect left the scene. Edwards followed the suspect to the area of Gulf Field Drive. The victim exited his vehicle to confront the suspect and the suspect shot the victim.
The victim attempted to drive off and wrecked his vehicle in the 1300 block of Central Drive and died as a result of his gunshot wound. The victim’s wife was not injured.
There have been four homicides in the city of Mobile in 2020.
Melvin Thompson III, 40, turned himself into police in the city’s first homicide of the year, the killing of Willie Marshall, 55, on Hercules Street January 6.
Dexter McGrew, 24, was shot to death January 11. The shooting occurred at Cottage Hill Place Apartments at 7600 Cottage Hill Road.
