Social media can cause psychological effects such as irritability, depression, isolation and anxiety. Explore the impact technology has on pre-teens and adolescent behavior and brain development at this educational discussion. Join Dr. Sina Safahieh, child and adolescent psychiatrist and Program Director for Hoag ASPIRE, to learn the signs for concern, differences between normal teen behaviors and potentially harmful ones, and what you can do to help. A panel of teen mental health experts from ASPIRE at Hoag will also be present to answer questions. Panelists include Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists Prerna Rao and Celia Quinlivan. ASPIRE (After School Program for Interventions and Resiliency Education) at Hoag is designed to help young people experiencing emotional and neurobehavioral problems, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and other symptoms related to mental health issues.
